What happens next

How we verify your identity

To protect your information from someone pretending to be you, requests to know, copy, correct or delete information are verified before anything is released or changed.
We match details you provide — such as your name, email, phone number and the vehicle or visit you contacted us about — with what we already hold. We do not ask you to create an account.
Before releasing specific pieces of personal information, we may ask you to sign a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you are the person the request is about.
If we cannot verify your identity, we will tell you and explain why.

Timing

We respond within 45 days of receiving your request. If we need more time, we may extend this once by up to 45 more days and will tell you the reason within the first 45 days.

Authorized agents

Someone you authorize can make a request for you. The agent must provide your signed permission, and we may ask you to verify your identity with us directly or to confirm that you gave the agent permission.
